The Miracle League of Ottawa will soon be building a fully accessible playground using the funds through the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) in Orléans. The project consists of building a playground adaptable to everyone no matter, their disability so that youths from all walks of life may enjoy a fun day at the park. Projects like these are part of a larger nation-wide initiative to make Canada more accessible for those with disabilities.
The Enabling Accessibility Fund provides funding to organizations, not-for-profits, and municipalities to render their environments, workplaces and public spaces more accessible to those with disabilities. The funding available for mid-sized projects provides contributions of up to $3 million to support larger retrofit, renovation or construction projects of facilities or venues that house or will house programs and services geared towards addressing the social and/or labour market integration needs of people with disabilities.
